Google Sites Led The October Search Market

Google Sites led the explicit core search market in October with 66.9 percent of search queries conducted, according to data released by comScore, Inc.

Google Sites were followed by Microsoft Sites with 18.1 percent (up 0.1 percentage points) and Yahoo! Sites with 11.1 percent. Ask Network accounted for 2.6 percent (up 0.1 percentage points) of explicit core searches, followed by AOL, Inc. with 1.3 percent.

"Explicit Core Search" excludes contextually driven searches that do not reflect specific user intent to interact with the search results.

19.3 billion explicit core searches were conducted in October, with Google Sites ranking first with 12.9 billion (up 4 percent). Microsoft Sites ranked second with 3.5 billion searches (up 4 percent), followed by Yahoo! Sites with 2.2 billion (up 2 percent), Ask Network with 499 million (up 5 percent) and AOL, Inc. with 260 million (up 4 percent).
