OCZ Breaks Performance Records At CeBIT With New Vector PCIe SSD

OCZ is showcasing its new workstation PCI Express (PCIe)-based SSDs as part of its Vector Series at CeBIT, with live benchmarks to show impressive performance.

The new Vector PCIe will be available in 240GB, 480GB and 960GB versions. The SSDs reside directly on the PCIe bus and support four PCIe Gen2 lanes providing lower latency to data, faster file transfers and system boot-ups in Windows-based client desktops and workstations.

The Vector PCIe Series feature OCZ's VCA 2.0 (Virtualized Controller Architecture) feature-set including SMART and TRIM support even in RAID 0 modes, along a suite of flash management tools that deliver enhanced drive endurance and data. Powered by two Indilinx Barefoot 3 controllers, the SSDs support up to 1000 MB/s and 140,000 IOPS, according to its specs.

OCZ was also running live benchmarks with the new Vector PCIe 960GB at its booth. In the AS SSD benchmark, the drive scored 930 MB/s sequential read speeds, 884 MB/s sequential writes, a 4K 64-thread read performance of 544 MB/s and a 486 MB/s writes. The ATTO becnhmark showed a 1000 MB/s performance while in real-world synthetic tests, the drive exceeded the 395 MB/s (AS SSD 'Program' score).
