HTC Corp will focus more towards emerging markets and offer lower priced phones in China this. At the same time, the company will release phones with screens larger than 5 inches.
The annoucnements were made by HTC on Monday during a conference call for investors.
The Taiwanese company gave a disappointing outlook for first-quarter revenue, saying it would be flat to 17 percent lower than in the previous three months.
HTC Chief Financial Officer Chang Chia-Lin said that HTC plans to rely on developed markets for most of its revenue and in China has focused on mid- to high-end models, priced less than 1,000 yuan ($160.)
HTC also plans to release smarphones that have larger than 5 inces displays.
"We will not limit ourselves to below five [inches]," said Chia-Lin Chang. "We will have a more exciting product lineup in the coming months. You will see."
Chia-Lin Chang did not disclose details about HTC's upcoming falgship phone, code-named "M7". Expected to be launched in the middle of this month in New York and London, it could give the company a first-mover advantage of a few months on features such as higher-resolution cameras.
