Twitter Vine Offers A New Way To Share Video

Twitter today introduced Vine, an app for iPhone and iPod Touch that lets Users capture and share short looping videos.

Twitter acquired Vine Labs last fall, but anyone can use Vine regardless of whether they use Twitter. However, the service is clearly meant to be embedded.

Vine videos are limited to a maximum of six seconds, and play in a continuous loop. Users can choose to have sound on or off, as can anyone who encounters a Vine video in a tweet or blog post.

"Like Tweets, the brevity of videos on Vine inspires creativity," wrote Michael Sippey, Twitter's vice president of product.

Although Vine was released today for iPhone and iPod Touch, Twitter said that versions will be coming eventually for other platforms.
