Sharp To Release New ICC Purios 4K 60-inch LCD TV in Japan

Sharp will release early next year in Japan its new ICC PURIOS LC-60HP10 LCD TV, which features a native 3,840 x 2,160 panel.

Announced for February 20, 2013 launch in Japan, the ICC Purios is a 4K 60-inch premium model that will cost a whooping 2.62 Million Yen ($31,400.)

The new LCD TV first appeared at last year's CEATEC show in Japan and was praised by the press for its picture quality and color rendering.

The ICC 4K LCD TV 60" prototype integrates the Integrated Cognitive Creation (ICC) visual creation technology developed by I-cubed Research Center Inc, with large-screen, high-resolution LCD technology nurtured in the development of Sharp AQUOS TVs. This involves not merely enhancing the image quality in video signal processing. Rather than that, a new signal processing technology combined with panel control technology reproduce the "cognitive" process, by which "the human brain interprets light stimuli as natural scenery or an object using a TV video display to re-create the equivalent light stimuli," acording to Sharp. "Landscapes in perspective, the realistic appearance of human figures, textures, etc., are displayed on the screen with a true-to-life quality approaching that of the real world," the company says.

The ICC effect can be adjusted by the users, depending on the type of content displayed to the screen.

It should be noted that instead of the four primary colors Sharp used in its "Quattro" panels, the ICC panel uses three primary colors (RGB.) In addition, the new LCD TV does not feature Sharp's "Moth Eye" technology, which helps screens show no glare and almost no reflection.

In addition the TV is features a THX-certified 4K liquid crystal panel (3,840 x 2,160), is supports USB HDD Recording, DLNA and LAN. A built-in 35W digital amplifier powers the TV's speakers (10W +10W +15W), while "DuoBass" enhances the woofer's performance.
