Japanese Court Rejects Samsung's request For iPhone Injunction

A Japanese court has dismissed an injunction filed by Samsung Electronics against Apple, finding no patent infringement as claimed by Samsung, the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported on Saturday.

The Tokyo District Court rejected the Samsung's claims in September and October, saying there had been no patent infringement by the U.S. company's Japanese unit.

The South Korean company claimed Apple's iPhone had violated its patents on technologies related to the phone's flight mode, which suspends a phone's communications without turning off the power during flight, and downloading of mobile applications.

According to the paper, a Tokyo district court rejected Samsung's injunction on Sept. 14 and then again on Oct. 11.

The two rivals are fighting a string of legal battles around the world.

Apple is appealing a Tokyo District Court decision handed down in August on separate patent claims against Samsung.
