Anonymous Claims Responsibility For GoDaddy Attack

GoDaddy on Monday experienced a massive DDoS attack leaving millions of websites in the dark. "Anonymous" was quick to claim responsibility although there has be no confirmation from GoDaddy.

GoDaddy on Monday stated via twitter: "Status Alert: Hey, all. We're aware of the trouble people are having with our site. We're working on it."

The outage affected the entire range of GoDaddy hosted services, including DNS, Websites and E-Mail.

GoDaddy said the outage began at around 1:25 p.m. EDT. By around 5:43 p.m. EDT, the GoDaddy.com website was back up and service was restored for the bulk of its customers.

GoDaddy.com hosts 5 million websites, mostly for small businesses.

GoDaddy was again target for "hacktivists" early this year, when it supported a copyright bill, the Stop Online Piracy Act.
