Toshiba today announced its entry into the cloud storage space with the Toshiba Canvio Personal Cloud. The company also unveiled Windows 8-optimized Ultrabook systems, new Satellite S955 laptops, an Ultrabook Convertible device and an All-in-One Desktop PC.
The Toshiba Canvio Personal Cloud storage hub allows users to save their media libraries securely in their own homes, with the added benefit of being able to access and stream files remotely via the cloud.
The device is a centralized file sharing and storage hub for the connected home, that enables users to bring all their content together in one place, including music, photos, video and documents stored on PCs, Android-based tablets and smartphones and iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad. Using the Canvio Link software for Windows or Canvio Link apps for Android and iOS, users can access and stream content stored on the Canvio Personal Cloud to their Internet-connected devices, whether on the home network or away. Smart TVs can also access Canvio Personal Cloud, allowing users to share music, photos and videos on the big screen.
Available with either 2TB or 3TB of storage, Canvio Personal Cloud includes an easy three step set-up process and simple interface. The device works with Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs, Android-based tablets and smartphones, iOS tablets and smartphones as well as DLNA-compatible devices.
It will be available for purchase on ToshibaDirect.com and select retailers in September 2012 for of $219.99 MSRP for the 2TB version and $249.99 MSRP for the 3TB version.
Toshiba also unveiled at IFA Windows 8-optimized Ultrabook systems and new Satellite S955 laptops. The Satellite U845W and new Satellite U945 Ultrabook systems pair Intel's latest mobile technologies with Toshiba's hardware designs. They feature spacious TouchPads or ClickPads from Synaptics that, with Windows 8 gesture support, allow users to perform the same gestures on the touchpad as they would on a touchscreen device.
The Satellite U845W is the first Ultrabook to feature a 14.4-inch diagonal ultrawide-HD TruBrite display with a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio. Equipped with 3rd generation Intel Core processors with Intel Rapid Start technology, the Satellite U845W is built to handle performance-intensive tasks on the go or at home, resuming from sleep in seconds. The Ultrabook is also equipped with harman/kardon stereo speakers and SRS Premium Sound 3D.

The Satellite U945 Ultrabook is a more affordably-priced Ultrabook for everyday productivity and entertainment. Weighing less than four pounds and measuring less than 0.8 inches thin, it offers all the performance of a conventional PC but with slimmer styling and less weight. Toshiba also today announced several touchscreen PCs designed for Windows 8, including a Ultrabook Convertible device, an All-in-One Desktop PC and a premium entertainment laptop.
The Satellite U925t Ultrabook Convertible can be used in two modes: as a tablet or as an Ultrabook made possible by its sliding hinge. From tablet mode, users can slide the display back and tilt it up to reveal an LED backlit raised tile keyboard and Synaptics ClickPad with Windows 8 gesture support and use the device like a traditional Ultrabook.
Less than 0.8 inches thin and weighing only 3.2 pounds, the Satellite U925t features a lightweight, soft touch surface, offering the portability of a traditional Ultrabook as well as a long battery life rating. Its 12.5-inch diagonal HD touchscreen display with IPS technology provides wide viewing angles whether in tablet or Ultrabook mode, while Corning Gorilla Glass resists scratches. Toshiba's LX835 All-in-One Desktop PCs are Windows 8 devices designed for the kitchen, family room or dorm room. These PCs feature 23-inch diagonal full HD 1080p resolution touchscreens.
The LX835 PCs are equipped with 3rd generation Intel Core processors, up to 2TB of storage and up to 8GB of memory, two USB 3.0 ports plus four USB 2.0 ports and audio from Onkyo speakers with SRS Premium Sound 3D. Select configurations feature NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics with 2GB of DDR3 graphics memory, with options for a built-in TV tuner and HDMI-in port. The PCs are bundled with a full-size raised tile wireless keyboard with a 10-key numeric keypad and a matching wireless mouse that are both pre-paired to allow users to start using the All-in-One right out of the box.
