New GeForce R304 Drivers Do TXAA

Hot on the heels of Nvidia Windows 8 WHQL drivers, a new batch of beta GeForce R304 drivers has hit the scene to enable Hollywood-quality antialiasing in games.

The new GeForce R304 drivers add support for the TXAA antialiasing mode. They also unify Windows 7 and Windows 8 support into a single driver and, for the first time, support all Windows operating systems from Windows XP to Windows 8 ? representing over 10 years of Windows releases.

With the launch of GeForce GTX 680, Nvidia introduced NVIDIA TXAA, which utilizes techniques similar to those used to create computed generated effects in movies. TXAA will make its gaming debut in Funcom?s new MMO, The Secret World. The game launches today and, in the very near future, will receive full TXAA support by way of an upcoming game patch.

GeForce 304.79 drivers also deliver a nice SLI performance boost in The Secret World, End of Nations, Ghost Recon Future Soldier and several other new games. Gamers will appreciate the numerous compatibility and performance fixes in Civilization V, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and others.

New & Updated SLI Profiles

The new GeForce 304.79 beta drivers also introduce a Secret World SLI profile, maximizing frame rates on multi-GPU systems. Furthermore, profiles for other top titles are also included:

- End of Nations
- Nexuiz (released at an earlier date via NVIDIA Update)
- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier (released at an earlier date via NVIDIA Update)
- Tornado Force
- Tribes: Ascend (updated)

Resolved Issues

The key fixes are as follows, with the complete list of Windows 7 and Windows 8 changes available to peruse in the driver notes, here.

- Fixed a compatibility issue with Civilization V and GeForce 400/500 series GPUs.
- Fixed instances of flickering or missing mouse cursor when hardware cursor is enabled (reported with Aion, World of Warcraft, Eve Online and others).
- Fixed an issue that caused a PC reboot instead of a PC shut down.
- Fixed an issue that led to a black screen after driver installation.
