New Intel SSDs Coming Later This Year

Intel's "Maple Crest" and "Ramsdale" series of SSDs will reportedly appear at the market in May.

The new 300 series models codenamed "Maple Crest" and the "Ramsdale" SSD 720 Series, will be based on 25nm MLC technology, according to a Digitimes.com report. Ramsdale SSDs will feature a PCIe 6GB/s interfaces and will be available in 400GB and 800 GB versions, targetting businesses and enterprises. Previous reports indicated that the 720 Series would use 34nm SLC.

Intel will also release the 500 series SSDs codenamed "King Crest," later in 2012. King Crest SSDs are based on 20nm MLC technology, the report said. These will be followed by the 700 series "Taylorsville" (100GB, 200GB, 400GB, 800GB) and 300 series "Jay Crest" and "Oak Crest" SSDs in Q4 2012.

Intel has not commented on the report.
