Samsung Files New Lawsuit Against Apple

Samsung is showing no signs of compromising with Apple in their patent dispute. The company said on Wednesday filed another lawsuit against Apple in South Korea, claiming the iPhone 4S and iPad2 infringed on three of its patents.

The two firms are viying for dominance of the mobile device market, after a series of legal clashes in Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands.

The latest suit was filed on Tuesday to a Seoul court and covers three utility patents and involves methods of displaying data, the user interface, and short text messages.

Samsung appears ready to go for broke in what it increasingly sees as a do-or-die battle.

"No compromise" Shin Jong-kyun, the head of the firm?s telecommunication division, in a meeting with The Korea Times Wednesday.

Shin?s comment followed reports that Apple offered Samsung a cross-licensing deal to end their patent dispute.

The report said Apple offered a licensing deal ranging from $5 to $15 per device sold as a means of settling the pending litigation.
