AMD Launches New Radeon HD 7000-series GPU

AMD has quietly introduced the Radeon HD 7000 designed for OEMs, although the "new" cards are obviously re-branded versions of the company's current HD 6000 series.

The Radeon HD 7670 card for OEMs features an 800MHz core, 480 stream processors, 24 texture units and eight ROPs. That's joined by up to 1GB of GDDR5 memory hooked up to a 128-bit interface. It is obvious that the Radeon HD 7670 appears to be the same as the Radeon HD 6670 launched last year.

According to AMD's page, the complete series of AMD's Radeon HD 7000-series of GPUs (OEMs) also includes the HD 7570 , the HD 7470, HD 7450 and the HD 7535. The Radeon HD 7670 and HD 7570 share the same specifications as the Radeon HD 6670 and HD 6570. The Radeon HD 7470 is the same as the 750 MHz version of the Radeon HD 6450, while the HD 7450 matches the 625 MHz version of the HD 6450. As a result, these "new" cards are based on AMD's previous architecture.

AMD has already announced the Radeon HD 7970 for the reyail market, which is based on the new Graphics Core Next architecture.
