Patriot And Kingston To Offer 6Gbps SandForce SSDs

Kingston and Patriot are showcasing new SSDs based on the succesful SandForce SF-2200 controller at the Compuitex show.

Kingston has added the HyperX solid-state drive to its lineup of SSDs. The HyperX is based on the SandForce SF-2200 controller - also found in OCZ's Vertex 3 - with 25nm NAND rated for 5,000 write/erase cycles. The drive's specifications list a sustaining sequential read and write speeds of 525 and 480MB/s, respectively. The company plans to release 120 and 240GB versions of the drive in July. Both models are also rated for 60,000 IOps with 4KB random writes.

Patriot memory is also getting in on the SF-2200. The new Wildfire series of SSD is rated for 500MB/s sequential reads and writes and will be available in capacities of 64GB, 128Gb and 256GB.
