Dell today announced 24 new business computing solutions and form factors, including laptops, tablets, desktops and workstation computers in one of the largest-ever introductions in the company's history and part of 39 new solutions launching in the next year.
At a media event in San San Francisco, the company unveiled new Latitude, OptiPlex and Precision products. These new systems are built from the ground up with manageability and security in mind. They're designed to meet enterprise IT needs and appeal to the end-user with a sleek and stylish design. Dell also previewed a new 10" Windows 7 commercial tablet that will be available in the coming quarters.
Here's a breakdown of the new Latitude E-Family:
* New systems include the Latitude E6520, E6420, E6320, E6220, E5520, E5420, and E6420 ATG laptops, Latitude XT3 convertible tablet and 2120 netbook

Dell designed the new Latitude E-series of notebooks aimed at
IT managers and other business segment users. The new series is designed with durability in mind and are based on materials that are built to withstand the rigors of everyday use. There were more than 100 durability-focused design improvements across Dell's E-family products, including a solid metal frame that increases stiffness and strength, a screen seal that helps cushion the panel, and tighter keycaps. The new E6420 ATG Premier business-rugged laptops are designed for the most demanding conditions, with hard-wearing MIL-STD tested Tri-Metal casing and highly durable displays. The materials used in the new 6-series laptops include a magnesium alloy base, panels and sides and solid metal-plating around the hinges which is necessary when users always on the go.
The new E-series products are available in a number of sizes, from the lightweight 12" E6220 to the mainstream 13" E6320 and 14" E5420/E6420, up to the 15" E5520/E6520. For those who like touchscreens, Dell will have the XT3, the company's new convertible tablet, as well as touchscreen panel options on the E6420 and E6520. Other features that Dell carried over from previous Latitude models include things like backlit keyboards to help when working on a plane or in a dimly lit conference room, high-definition cameras for video conferencing, and a variety of battery options including a snap-on battery slice for extra-long run-time.
The new E-series provide multiple wireless options with improved antennae support and mobile broadband support through a variety of carriers. Users can enjoy go-anywhere productivity with ExpressCharge battery options and swappable media module options - including optical drives, hard drive and USB 3.0 media modules.
ImageDirect enables users to focus on management of a single image that works across multiple platforms and departments. And once an image is in ImageDirect, it is available to work with future Dell hardware platforms, reducing the time and cost for product transitions. Finally, the new models include enhanced security with Dell Data Protection, contactless and standard smart card readers, an optional fingerprint reader and encrypted hard drive options.
The Dell Latitude E5 and E6 series will be available this Spring.

The OptiPlex 990 is Dell's most powerful and flexible commercial desktop. Featuring up to Intel Core i7 vPro processors it delivers technology that helps simplify systems management and security as well as hybrid drive, solid state drives and 1GB AMD RADEON HD 6670 (the Mini-Tower only). The OptiPlex 990 is available in four different chassis sizes.
The OptiPlex 790 helps IT programs save time and money, Intel Standard Manageability and Dell Data Protection solution are featured on OptiPlex 790 desktops. Also available in four different chassis sizes, that share OptiPlex 990 visual identity, the 790 form factors have a minimum of 10% post-consumer recycled plastic enclosure and highly efficient power supply options to be environmentally responsible.
The OptiPlex 390 is designed to offer essential productivity to organizations who need affordable in-band manageable desktops with OptiPlex life-cycle management and stability.
The OptiPlex 990 integrates the latest Intel vPro remote management technology, along with the Dell Data Protection security capabilities such as one-touch preset compliance policy templates, flexible encryption and single solution for system disk as well as removable medias. On top of Dell Data Protection, the OptiPlex 790 comes with Intel Standard Manageability that delivers a robust ground for remote system management. Also, Dell KACE system management appliances are fully-compatible with the OptiPlex desktops enabling easy deployment of remote manageability and maintenance simplification.
Here's a breakdown of the new Precision Workstations:

Dell introduced the new entry-level desktop workstation the Dell Precision T1600. Integrating workstation performance with desktop price, the Dell Precision T1600 melds professional grade processors and graphics with ISV certification in a mini-tower toolless chassis.
The Dell Precision T1600 is the follow-on to the T1500, which was Dell's first entry-level desktop workstation certified with AutoCAD and the first in the industry. Dell has enhanced the T1500 by adding workstation-class processors, 13 new ISV certifications, a wider-range of professional discrete and integrated graphics and additional memory and storage options.
The T1600 is specifically designed for professionals who need higher performance from their desktop computer to use professional software to perform compute-intensive functions. The Dell Precision T1600 is now certified on their top software applications from Alibre, Altair, Autodesk, Bentley, Dassault Systemes, Google, MasterCAM, National Instruments, PTC and Siemens.
In addition to new software application certifications, the Dell Precision T1600 enables users to work faster while using less power with the latest generation of Intel Core or Intel Xeon processor options. Users can also boost productivity and design accuracy with workstation class graphics in the form of adaptable, integrated Intel graphics and single or dual add-in graphics from AMD and NVIDIA.
Professional 2D graphics options include AMD FirePro 2270, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 300, and NVIDIA NVS 420 quad display graphics cards. Users looking for entry-3D professional graphics can choose from AMD FirePro V4800 and NVIDIA Quadro 600 graphics cards and for the first time mid-range 3D graphics are available on the T1600 with the NVIDIA Quadro 2000 graphics card. Also available as a value option is the newly introduced Intel HD Graphics 2000 in Core processors, and Intel HD Graphics P3000 in Xeon Processors.
Additional technology enhancements include expansive memory with four slots supporting up to 16G of ECC or 8G non-ECC DDR3 DIMMs for improved performance with large datasets. ECC (error correcting code) memory, which is new to the T1600, helps reduce system crashes by automatically correcting errors that could be introduced by the hardware.
Beyond the new hardware advancements, the T1600 comes with new services, support, security and management features. New services include optional Custom Factory Integration, which incorporates hardware, images, applications, peripherals and documents with a user's system as it's built to help simplify and speed up deployment, while improving consistency and compatibility. Premium support service, ProSupport, is also available and features 24/7 direct telephone access to advanced-level technicians based in a user's region to end downtime and resolve problems quickly.
