Nichia has succeeded in deleloping green GaN-based laser diode for use mainly in pico projectors, and will start its shipment from August.

The green laser has an estimated life time 10,000 hours with the condition of 50mW in continuous-wave operation at 60°C, case temperature, Nichia said.

The new green semiconductor laser diode has consumes low power, it is highly efficient and also costs less than conventional light sources applied for pico projector.
