LG Introduces INFINIA Premium LED LCD TV and PDP TV series at CES

LG plans to unveil a full-line up of 3D TVs that feature a slim frame as well as its INFINIA series of LED LCD TVs and PDP TVs at CES.

LG INFINIA HDTVs (the LE9500, LE8500 and LE7500 series) combine a slim design and thin bezel with connectivity and limitless content options. LG's new Full LED Slim technology elevates picture quality with a slim LED structure that supports detailed local dimming of up to 240 addressable segments (on the 55-inch class LE9500), resulting in an HDTV that provides the deeper black levels and uniform picture quality which typically could not be achieved on an ultra-thin set. Boasting a thin bezel of only 8.5mm, the LE9500 brings advanced technology into the home without being obtrusive.

The flagship Infinia model, "Full LED Slim," (model: 55/47LE9500) features an 8.5 millimeter-wide frame and a refresh rate of 480Hz, the company said. LG's local dimming technology enhanced brightness and contrast rated at 7,000,000:1.

It also features broadband TV functionality, giving users access to Skype's internet telephony service and a wide range of videos from Netflix, VUDU, YouTube as well access to Google's Picasa Web Albums service.

The 55- and 47-inch class LE9500 sets will be LG's first 3D-ready models available in the United States.

Apart from Infinia series, LG will also display its "UltraSlim LED LCD TV," which is the industry's slimmest LCD TV measuring only 6.9 millimeter-thick.

The company will also showcase the 'InfiniBand Catania' LED LCD TV LE8500 and LE7500 models featuring 240Hz and 120Hz technologies, respectively.

The new series of the Infinia plasma panels include the 60PK950, which features the "True Black Filter" technology and double the contrast ratio of the existing PDP products.

The company's 3D television lineup includes a 72-inch model with a regular LCD screen and a 60-inch model with plasma display. The company also displayed a 3D projector designed to support a 150-inch screen.

LG set an aggressive sales target of 7 million units for LED LCD TVs.

LG is also introducing the DP570MH mobile digital television (DTV), which also offers DVD playback.
