Samsung Brings YouTube to the Living Room through Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player

Samsung today announced that European consumers will be able to view online YouTube content via Samsung Blu-ray Disc players.

Samsung's advanced technology brings more than just a Blu-ray and DVD player - consumers can now enjoy on-line streaming, PC contents and USB downloading through Samsung's Blu-ray Disc player. With the new service, available from 3rd September, consumers can also enjoy video clips from YouTube on their TV screen. The YouTube service features a variety of video clips, including the most popular or highly rated videos and allows for video search through a mobile phone-like on-screen key pad. BR>
Samsung's Blu-ray disc players in the US already offer streaming movies and music to consumers through services from Netflix and Pandora.

The company also announced that the new Blu-ray players will now support the MKV file format, and allow people with older devices to upgrade their firmware to use the technology via the internet or a dongle.

The YouTube service on Samsung Blu-ray players is available at the home video corner in Samsung's booth at IFA 2009.
