Warner Puts Total HD 'On Hold'

Warner Home Video is reportedly planning to delay or even postpone the release of its Total HD discs.

"It would be tough to proceed, since we are the last man standing in both formats," Warner's Home Video president Ron Sanders was quoted to say, according to the Home Media Magazine publication.

"This (Total HD) only makes sense for studios supporting both formats, and since Paramount went the other way and retail didn?t push the issue, one studio isn?t enough for us to pull the trigger."

Paramount Home Entertainment last month dropped its support for Blu-ray Disc and decided to go exclusively with HD DVD.

Total HD is a dual-format disc, with Blu-ray Disc content on one side and HD DVD content on the other. Warner had unveiled its plans,/A> to release such a disc tt last January?s Consumer Electronics Show. Bak then, Warner had promised to that discs in Total Hi Def would had been available in the second half of 2007.

Sanders set Total HD concept "on hold" for now, although it can be revisited in the future.
