Sanyo Introduces New Projector with the World's Shortest Projection Distance

Sanyo announced the launch of a new projection technology that allows projection in a number of positions and on a number of untraditional surfaces - the LP-XL50 ultra-short focus projector.

The successor of the company's LP-XL40 projector that was released last year features a new propriety optical engine, shattering the traditional concept of a projector by shortening the distance required to project 80 inch images to a mere 8 cm.

In order for SANYO to shorten the projection distance of its projectors, new large diameter aspheric lens and high-precision aspheric mirror technology was developed. Through this, large projections from a short distance are possible, and projection is possible even in tight or small meeting rooms.

In addition, the LP-XL50 has a proprietary optical and cooling (mechanism) technology, which allows the projector to project both vertically and horizontally.

The new projector will be on sale in Japan from December 2007.
