Verizon Offering Budget WM Smartphone

Verizon Wireless just announced the PN-820, a Windows Mobile Smartphone with a clamshell design.

The PN-820 is a budget model - just $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate. It supports Verizon's 3G network and has most of the features that WM Smartphone users seem to crave.

This is one of few clamshell devices running this operating system. It has a small exterior screen, and 2.2-inch internal one. On the opposite side of the clamshell is a D-pad and a numberpad.

When closed, it is 3.8 inches tall, 2.0 inches wide, and 0.78 inches thick. It weighs 3.9 ounces.

This smartphone has 128 MB of RAM and 64 MB Flash storage. It also includes a miniSD card slot.

Smartphone Applications

As we would expect , the PN-820 comes with the standard suite of WM Smartphone applications, which means it has a Web browser and email software, plus ones to keep track of the user's address book, schedule, and tasks.

In addition, Verizon's says that the PN-820allows users to "View email attachments", so it most likely comes with software to allow people to look at Microsoft Office documents(probably the Picsel viewer used in other Smart Phones.) Usually, models running this operating system don't come bundled with applications to allow users to edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files.

A 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth short-range wireless networking round out its specifications.
