Apple Releases Firmware Update for the Mac

Apple Computer has released a firmware update that the company said will fix problems with its Boot Camp software.

The company posted the firmware update on the Apple Web site on Nov. 13. The update affects Intel-based Macs, including the iMac, the MacBook, MacBook Pro and the Mac mini.

According to the company's Web site, the "EFI Firmware Update fixes several Boot Camp, start up, and wake-from-sleep issues" for these Intel-based Macs.

Boot Camp is software that will allow Mac users to run Microsoft's Windows. Apple released the latest version, called Boot Camp 1.1.2, on Oct. 30.

Although Boot Camp is available for Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6, the software will be bundled in OS X Version 10.5, called Leopard, which CEO Steve Jobs has said will be released in the spring of 2007.
