InterVideo Ulead Blu-ray Disc Software Integrated With First-to-Market BD Notebook and Desktop PCs

InterVideo and its partner Ulead Systems announced that InterVideo Ulead's Blu-ray Disc (BD) playback and recording software are bundled with Sonys first-to-market BD notebook and desktop PCs

InterVideo WinDVD(R) BD for VAIO is one of the earliest BD playback software and has complete support for all BD title formats. Ulead BD DiscRecorder(TM) for VAIO is a video-recording application that allows real-time and off-line recording of standard and high-definition video onto new high-capacity Blu-ray Discs. Ulead DVD DiskRecorder(TM) Move SDK is a built-in application which transfers recorded TV programs to Blu-ray Discs or DVDs and incorporates content protection.

Blu-ray Disc is a powerful next-generation format for storing and playing high-definition video content. Its high storage capacity of 25 to 50GB allows for the best-possible HD video quality and satisfies even the most demanding data-storage needs. The BD format incorporates AACS, a robust copy protection mechanism, to ensure strict security for high-definition content.

"InterVideo Ulead prides itself on being at the forefront of Blu-ray software development and on meeting all the requirements of the BD specifications," said Steve Ro, CEO of InterVideo Ulead. "We are excited about working with Sony Corporation to provide complete BD solutions to users. With the debut of Sony BD-enabled notebooks and desktops, InterVideo Ulead proves itself to be one of the worldwide leaders of Blu-ray software. We are ready to deliver our complete BD solutions to all of our retail and OEM customers."

Blu-ray Playback

WinDVD(R) BD for VAIO(R) provides total solution for BD playback, including support for BDAV video format. WinDVD BD fully supports BDMV (movie) titles with parental and region controls. It also supports the highly-interactive features of the BD-J specification. This specification allows movie enthusiasts to take advantage of all the BD interactive playback features including subtitles, play modes, angles and direct Internet connectivity for content updates.

WinDVD BD meets all of the requirements for AACS and COPP content-protection mechanisms. It allows users to playback BDAV video and AACS-protected or non-protected recordable and rewritable BD (BD-R/BD-RE) discs. BDMV titles (BD-ROM) with AACS encryption and BD-J interactive capabilities are also supported.

Blu-ray Recording

BD DiscRecorder(TM) for VAIO(R) allows users to record high-definition video content from HDV camcorders such as the Sony HDR-HC1 or HDR-HC3 to Blu-ray Discs in full HDV resolution. Video may be recorded directly from camcorder to disc in real-time or it can be first captured to the user's hard drive for editing. Editing features allow users to combine multiple standard or high-definition clips as well as to trim and extract clips using the Multi-Trim editing interface.

Blu-ray Move

DVD DiskRecorder(TM) Move SDK allows users to "move" recorded TV programs from hard drives to single-layer (25GB) or double-layer (50GB) re-recordable BD-RE discs. During the "moving" process, the video is recorded to Blu-ray disc using BDAV MPEG-2 TS (Transport Stream). The discs include AACS content protection to prevent potential hacking. DiskRecorder also supports "moving" TV-program video to DVD disc. While transcoding the video to DVD-VR format, DiskRecorder also incorporates CPRM content protection on the disc.
