RWPPI 35th Meeting: The Details

The details of the latest General Meeting of the RWPPI (RW Prdoduct Promotion Initiative) were announced on Wednesday.

The 35th RWPPI general meeting was held on Feb. 17, 2006 at the head office of Pioneer Corporation in Tokyo.

During the conference, the Round Robin Test "Stage 5" results were reported. The "Stage 5" tests involved various evaluation tests for 16x DVD-R, 6x DVD-RW, 4x DVD-R, DVD-R Dual Layer, and DVD-R/RW discs for DVD Video Camera. Compared to previous Stage tests, it was conducted in a broader context with more variations of optical storage discs to be apprehended, but a it was announced during the meeting that a compatibility rate of 98.4% was achieved.

Approaches for the next "Stage 6" test plans were unveiled. The tests will be focussed on 8x DVD-R Dual Layer (DL), 2x DVD-RW DL, continued CPRM disc tests, 8cm disc compatibility with new applications, and compatibility between legacy and new DVD recorders/writers.

Next, three companies introduced their new DVD application Software products First, InterVideo Japan, Inc. introduced their "iVideoToGo for iPod/for PSP" a product to write video files with video format H.264 for iPod5G, as well as for PSP.

Sonic Solutions introduced their new CD/DVD writing software "Easy Media Creator 8."

Nero introduced their new product "Nero 7 Premium" a multifunctional product that enables video/music file editing, photo data readings editing.
