Xbox 360 File System Hacked

A coding group named Pi claims that it has managed to decode the DVD file system used by the popular Xbox 360 gaming console.

The group has posted the source code of a utility that could allow extraction of the data of an Xbox 360 disc. However, the Xbox 360 does not use any of the ISO9660 or UDF filesystems, so potential attempts to store the data on a DVD as an image and read them back on a PC DVD-ROM is out of question.

So, aside from being able to explore the file system structure, there is not much that can be done with the information.

The group also claims that the specific utility does not bypass copy-protection mechanisms. However, creating and transferring an image of a disc you own is illegal.
