Kano to Distribute Ricoh's Encryption CD-R Media in North America

Ricoh has named Kano Technologies Corporation as the North American master distributor for its CD-ROM + CD-R (RR) technology.

Kano is introducing Ricoh?s first RR product, EncryptEase, at DV Expo, in Los Angeles this week.

EncryptEase is an intelligent CD-R disc that comes with encryption software, including encoding/decoding, data compression, writing and copy-guard functions, pre-recorded on each disc. Using the encryption software, a user can record and encrypt up to 600MB of personal data in the recordable area and set a password to ensure data protection. To read the data on any Windows system, simply insert the disc, and the software will launch and install a driver. Then, enter your pass word and access your data. Because it is a multisession CD-R, EncryptEase allows users to add data and assign additional passwords up to 20 times or until the disc is full. Each encrypted data session is protected with a user assigned unique password and can be independently accessed through the self-launching graphical interface.

EncryptEase is available now in North America, at an MSRP of $5.95 per disc.
