Sonicblue introduces broadband DVD

SONICblue on Wednesday launched a series of new digital video recorders (DVR) with broadband connectivity that let viewers download video from the Internet and play it on their television sets.

SONICblue, which acquired television technology company ReplayTV in August, said it was introducing the new DVR models under the ReplayTV brand name. The DVR connects to a cable modem or DSL, enabling users to share video throughout the house or outside the house, can store many hours of television or other media and playback recorded programs without commercials.

SONICblue's new ReplayTV series is available in four models: ReplayTV 4040 with up to 40 hours of storage for $699; ReplayTV 4080 with up to 80 hours of storage for $999; ReplayTV 4160 with up to 160 hours of storage for $1,499; and the ReplayTV 4320 with up to 320 hours of storage for $1,999.
