Seagate 1" Pocket HDD Debuts In Japan

5GB worth of precious music, videos or other data is now easily portable -- Available at the end of April through Logitec

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Seagate Japan, Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX), the world's leading supplier of hard disc drives, today announced its expansion in the Japanese retail market with off-the-shelf availability of its extraordinary USB2.0 Pocket Hard Drive. The "yo-yo" shaped Pocket Drive won global recognition beginning with a CES Innovations Award in January 2005 for its superior design and function, enabling users to easily carry and share precious data via USB.

The 5GB Pocket Hard Drive will be available beginning April 20 through Logitec at major retail shops in Japan, with a suggested retail price of 20,900 Japanese Yen. The product can be also purchased from Logitec's website: http://www.logitec-direct.jp/

"Logitec is quite pleased to be working hand-in-hand with the leading supplier of hard disc drives, especially in introducing such a unique product to the Japanese market," said Yunosuke Hoshino, president of Logitec Inc. "With storage needs increasing across a variety of market segments, I believe Seagate and Logitec are well-positioned to bring innovative storage products to a wider range of consumers here."

"Seagate has the broadest disc drive product line in the industry and it is our pleasure to make the Pocket Drive available as the first retail product here, especially as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishing Seagate's presence in Japan," said Tom Kobayashi, president of Nippon Seagate, Inc. "Our ongoing commitment to research and development, and customer support will ensure continued innovation designed to better meet the unique needs of the Japanese consumer."

Seagate USB2.0 Pocket Hard Drive

The Seagate USB 2.0 Pocket Hard Drive is the biggest small hard drive on the planet - it's the world's first external hard drive small enough for consumers to fit in their pockets or throw in a backpack. Safely encased in its sleek palm-sized shell, it's as convenient as a USB thumb drive - but it offers an incredible 5GB of storage to conveniently carry a huge amount of digital music, photos, video, and business files.

The Seagate Pocket Hard Drive has a distinct round design just over two inches in diameter. Its shape is designed to move in and out of a pocket easily and enables a unique retractable USB cable, and its rubberized feet keep it steady on the desktop. With a shock resistant design, it delivers high performance, low power consumption and reliability. The Seagate Pocket Hard Drive even includes software for data security and easy content management, letting users safeguard files - or the entire drive - with password protection.

The Seagate USB 2.0 Pocket Hard Drive features a worry-free one-year warranty that covers all parts and labor, plus free technical support, even after the warranty ends.
