First product to pass DVD+RW Video Compliance test

On February 3rd, 2005, Mr. Bentvelsen of the Philips Standards & Format Verification Laboratory presented the DVD+RW Video certificate of conformance to Sony Corporation.

Sony's DVD+RW camcorders of the DCR-DVD Handycam series are the first products that passed the DVD+RW Video Format Compliance Test successfully. These camcorders record video and still pictures directly to 80mm DVD+RW discs. The compliance test was established in the last quarter of 2004 to further enhance compatibility of the DVD+R/+RW real time video system. The test checks spec-compliance of DVD+R/+RW recorders and DVD+R/+RW authoring applications.

If a product passes the DVD+RW Video Format Compliance Test, it proves to have a high level of compliance to the DVD+RW Video specifications, ensuring good compatibility for playback and recording.
