Memorex Introduces Next Generation 16X DL DVD Recorders in Internal and External Models

Memorex adds to its family of award-winning optical drives and continues to offer consumers the latest DVD recording technology with its newest 16X Dual-Format, Double-Layer DVD Recorders, available in both external and internal models.

The number one brand of digital media and media accessories provides consumers with the latest recording speeds; double-layer technology; and a sleek, stylish look to its 16x drives. And the new external 16X DVD drive features an attractive, stackable enclosure that?s nearly 20 percent smaller than previous external models.

The speedy new Memorex 16X Dual-Format, Double-Layer DVD Recorders allow consumers to burn single-layer DVD+R/-R discs at speeds up to 16X and new double-layer DVD+R9 discs at speeds up to 4X. Consumers with no time to spare can now burn DVD+R and DVD-R discs in just seven short minutes ? and a full DVD+R9 disc in about 50 minutes. They can also burn up to 8.5 GB of extended length movies, music and photos onto double-layer discs, which provide 80 percent more recording capacity compared to single-layer discs.

The all-new sleek design of the 16X external drive features a stackable pewter and black enclosure and dual blue LEDs. This stylish and functional drive also comes with a removable stand that allows the unit to rest on its side to conserve desk space.

?DVD recording has become a key part of consumers? digital lifestyles. More and more consumers rely on high-performance Memorex products to capture, save and share their data,? said Allen H. Gharapetian, vice president of marketing and product development. ?Our new 16X Dual-Format, Double-Layer DVD Recorders deliver the latest DVD recording speeds available, and allow consumers to easily record and save home movies, precious photos and important data for generations.?

Memorex based its new DVD drives on its previous generation 16X8X2.4 Dual-Format Double-Layer Internal DVD Recorder that PC World ranked as the number one drive in its Top 10 DVD Drives chart in the January 2005 issue.

Boasting the highest recording speeds available, the new 16X drives write to both DVD+R and DVD-R discs at 16X, DVD+R9 dual layer discs at 4X and CD-R discs at 48X; re-write to DVD+RW discs at 8X, DVD-RW discs at 6X and CD-RW discs at 24X; and read DVD-ROM at 16X and CD-ROM at 48X. Both drives also feature built-in buffer underrun protection ensuring uninterrupted recording and built-in Flash-ROM for online updatability. Additionally, the Memorex 16X external drive features both USB 2.0 and Firewire interfaces for universal connectivity. The drives come with a detailed installation guide and comprehensive product documentation.
