Taiwan?s retail prices of HLDS (Hitachi-LG Data Storage) 16x Super Multi DVD burners fell from NT$3,300-3,350 (US$101-102) to NT$3,000 (US$91), according to local retail channels.
HLDS is currently the world?s only maker of Super Multi, a three-format DVD burner that supports the +RW, -RW and -RAM formats. Despite the price drop, BenQ, Lite-On IT and Asustek Computer, Taiwan?s top makers of DVD burners, maintained their retail prices for 16x DVD Dual burners at NT$3,250-3,400 (US$99-104), while the corresponding retail prices for Sony and Pioneer models also remained unchanged at NT$3,500-3,800 (US$107-116).
