Maxell Announces Price Increase on Computer Tape Media

Maxell today announced price increases of 5 to 10 percent on many computer tape media products in its commercial and professional divisions.

Products affected by the pricing increase include DLT, Super DLT, LTO Ultrium and DDS/DAT tape, as well as cleaning cartridges.

The price increases, effective December 1, are due to rising prices for raw materials and other distribution and supply chain cost increases. The advanced notice will provide Maxell Customers with sufficient time to plan for the price adjustment. Maxell recently issued an announcement anticipating this price increase on September 14th.

"Maxell is a manufacturer of high technology products and consequently is committed to the R&D process to bring advanced products to market," said Don Patrican, Maxell executive vice president of sales. "Our R&D investments, coupled with rising costs of raw materials, especially petrochemicals, made this price increase necessary so that we can continue to provide the high technology products and overall support that our Customers expect from Maxell. By offering our Customers a 60-day advance notice, we are providing adequate time to incorporate the pricing changes in their business planning process."
