MediaTek revenues to start faltering in September

MediaTek?s revenues are expected to start faltering in September due to the slow growth of PC-use optical disc drives (ODDs) and MPEG2 decoders, which will affect sales of the company?s storage controller ICs, according to a recent report from Merrill Lynch.

As DigiTimes continues, MediaTek?s revenues are likely to drop 10% sequentially to NT$3.70 billion in September, from NT$4.11 billion in August, the report said. September revenues will also represent a fall of 14.8% from the same period a year ago, the first year-on-year decline the company has had since 2001, said the investment bank.
