 BenQ announces DW1620A, 16X +R, 12X -R DL recorder

Message Text: BenQ announced today a new Double Layer recorder with the codename DW1620A. The drive supports 16X DVD+R writing, 12X -R writing and 2.4X Double Layer recording making it one of the fastest available recorders...

The drive supposed to hit market early August and will phase out DW1600A that supports only 16X DVD+R writing.

12X (CAV) DVD-R
4X (CLV) DVD+RW
4X (CLV) DVD-RW
2.4X (CLV) DVD+R Double Layer
40X (CAV) CD-R
24X (P-CAV) CD-RW

Reading Specifications:
12X DVD-ROM 40X CD-ROM 2MB Buffer

According to BenQ officials, existing DW1600A customers would be able to upgrade to DW1620A with a free firmware upgrade by the time DW1620A hits the market...
