 Mitsubishi Chemicals announce first double-layer DVD+R discs

Message Text: Mitsubishi Chemicals announced that the first DVD+R DL media will be available in the Japanese market end of May. Codenamed "DTR85N1", the discs are expected to cost approximately 1,500 Yen (EUR 11,50).

The media offer an 8,5GB capacity and the supported reading speed is the 2.4x (CLV). Mitsubishi Chemicals technology ensures the required manufacturing precision of the disc substrate, stability in the recording speed as well as good physical characteristics.

LiteOn, Sony, Philips/BenQ and NEC have already unveiled the first double-layer recorders.
