Philips announced a new hard disk DVD recorder at CES press conference. The upcoming HDRW720 will be able to connect to your TV and record your favourite programs on a 80GB hard disk. The device will also support one-button recording on DVD+R/+RW media. Besides that, the recorder offers simple editing functions and an iLink input.
Philips representatives admitted that the company comes late in the market with their DVD Hard disk recorder. However, supporting an integrated free electronic program leader the HDRW720, Philips representatives believe that the device will lead the market. Regarding the DVD+R9 recording capabilities, Philips did not confirm anything.
The HDRW720 is expected to ba available at a retail price of US $700.
