 Toshiba and Sony cooperate for PS3 CPU

Message Text: Toshiba and Sony have jointly proceeded to the development of the new CPU that will be used in the Sony's PlayStation 3. The companies announced that the new 65 nanometer processor (CPU) has succesfully passed the first production test. The size of the chip is smaller than the 90 nanometer standards approximately by 1/3.

According to Toshiba, the first 65 nanometer chip tests will be done by March 2004, but large scale production is expected to start in summer 2005. Sony plans to promote the PS3 in 2005 also.
