Message Text: Hitachi High-Technologies announce the launch of three new HDTV video encoder/decoder modules for professional MPEG applications.

The SC20KE is postcard size encoder for the streaming of video, audio and ancillary data and provides a highly integrated solution for engineers wanting a complete HDTV MPEG-2 sub-system with HD-SDI input and DVB-ASI output.

The SC10KE and SC10KD are HD MPEG-2 video encoder and decoder modules and are vital building blocks for engineers designing MPEG systems for applications such as HDTV wireless camera systems, portable flyaway systems and remote news gathering. They integrate high speed DDR memory and allow multiplexing of audio into the transport stream.

All three boards contain the unique VASA single chip MPEG-2 codec from NTT Electronics. Low power consumption and low latency are two of its main features, along with its ability to work in full spec MP@HL and 422P@HL environments. The VASA chip processes high quality MPEG-2 video in 1080i, 1080/24P, 720P, 480i and 480P formats with a power consumption of less than 3W. Typical encoder delay (I frame) is 66ms. Integrating this single chip onto the SC20KE, SC10KE and SC10KD means that the boards remain compact, so providing a workable solution for both mobile and fixed broadcast applications.
