Message Text: TDK has developed its first Blue Laser disc. This breakthrough 23.3GB media accommodates the 405nm laser wavelength and high numerical aperture (.85) lenses employed by Sony Professional Optical Disc Recording System products – camcorders and decks for broadcast news and electronic field production environments.

At the upcoming IBC show in Amsterdam, September 12-16, TDK’s Blue Laser disc format will make its worldwide debut. As the leading recording media solutions provider, TDK utilized its engineering and manufacturing expertise to develop this breakthrough product. Extensive research coupled with exclusive TDK mastering and replication technologies enabled the creation of the Blue Laser disc’s high-speed recording and ultra-flat (.1mm), high-durability coating layers. The end result is revolutionary professional recording media that delivers incredible capacity, fast data transfer, unmatched scratch resistance and total recording reliability.

The Blue Laser disc’s 23.3GB capacity is almost five times that of standard DVD media, and its 72Mbps data recording transfer rate is the fastest ever announced. The disc will be rewritable more than 1,000 times to provide cost efficiency to the professional user.
