Logitec announced the availability of its new 8X DVD dual burners, by the end of September. The
"LDR-X840AK" is the ATAPI model and the "LDR-X 840U2" is the external USB 2.0 version, both based
on the Plextor 8X DVD writer. The ATAPI model is expected to cost around 35,000 Yen (280 Euro).
The LDR-X840U2 supports 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD+RW, 4X DVD-R, 2X DVD-RW, 40X CD-R, and 24X CD-RW writing
speeds. Sine the availability of 8X DVD+R media is not expected earlier than December, users will
have to use those 4X DVD+R media specified by the company for 8X writing. These media come from
Taiyo Yuden / Mitsubishi Chemical / Ricoh.
The "LDR-X 840U2" offers low operation noise, and supports 2X DVD Video playback. The supported
interface is the USB 2.0, its dimensions are 150x243x44mm (W x D x H), and its weight
approximately 1.4kg. |
