 8X DVD burner by Philips

Message Text: After Plextor already announced its 8X DVD Burner in July, Philips introduces the new DVDRW824. The drive writes DVD+R at 8X and DVD+RW at 4X. The supported DVDreading speed is 12X, while CD's can be read at 40X max. The maximum CD burning speed is set to 24X for CD-R's and 10X for CD-RW's. The heart of the burner developed as a joint venture with BenQ and the Nexperia architecture of Philips.

According to Philips the manufacturing of the burner has already began, while the first samples have been sent to OEM manufacturers for own drive assemply. A couple of days ago, Benq also announced the DW800A, 8X DVD burner. The Philips DVDRW824 will be available in the market by September.
