Message Text: The Computex 2003 exhibition, which will be held from September 22-26, is expected to be the largest ever, according to organizers Taipei Computer Association (TCA) and China External Trade Development Council (CETRA).

A total of 1,195 companies have registered as exhibitors, up nearly 8% from last year, occupying a total of 2,471 booth spaces. “The number is still increasing, as the show is still two months away,” said Nick Chang, sector chief of CETRA.

Anticipating a large exhibitor turnout, the Taipei City government has allocated a new exhibition facility, the A21 hall, for the show. The new hall sits next to the Taipei 101 office tower and provides an additional 300 exhibition booths. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month and all utility and wiring installation by the end of August, Chang said.

“All spaces in the A21 hall have already sold out,” said Chang.

This year’s Computex had been postponed from June 2-6 due to the SARS outbreak.
