Melco announced a new external DVD-R / RW recorder with DVD-RAM reading support. The "DVR-R 42U2" is expected to hit the market in middle of June, at a price of about 200 Euros.
The external drive supports the USB 2.0 connection interface. It seems that the internal of the drive comes from Toshiba (SD-R5112). The supported writing speeds are 4X DVD-R, 2X DVD-RW, 16X CD-R, and 10X CD-RW. Reading of DVD-ROM (Single Layer) is set to 12x and 8X for DVD-ROM (Dual Layer) /DVD-Video. DVD RAM discs can be read at 1x.
The bundle software is the ArcSoft ShowBiz for DV capture, animation edit /Video CD creation, SONIC MyDVD for DV for capturing, authoring, DVD-Video and slide show creation, BHA B'sRecorderGOLD5 Basic CD/DVD burning software,
BHA B'sCLiP5 for CD/DVD packet lighting and SONIC CinePlayer for DVD-Video and Video CD reproduction |
