 Lite-On to release 48x combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) drive this month

Message Text: As DigiTimes report "...Taiwan-based optical storage maker Lite-On IT this week said it will introduce a 48x combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive in late April, moving up from the current mainstream 32x combo drives. The new model writes at 48x, rewrites at 24x, reads CDs at 48x and reads DVDs at 16x. Sources said the unit quote price for retailers is around US$55-65..."

and continues "...The move comes as DVD-RW drives spring onto the market. Most optical storage makers predict DVD±RW drives will replace combo CD-RW/DVD-ROM drives, as recordable DVD discs provide better quality and longer recording length..."
