As DigiTimes report "...With prices dropping to about US$100, demand for DVD+RW burners will double this year, stated Philips’s Strategic Alliance manager Dr Frans C Bos in an interview on February 20..."
and continues "...The DVD+RW and DVD-RW standards have competed fiercely to become the market mainstream. Philips, the leading promoter of the DVD+RW standard, has attracted the biggest PC vendors, Dell Computer and Hewlett-Packard (HP), to its side to vie against Pioneer’s DVD-RW standard. According to Dr Bos, with support from Dell and HP, the price of DVD+RW burners will fall under US$100. Both Dell and HP are offering DVD+RW burners in their sub-US$1,000 PC systems, he added..." |
