Message Text: With the exception of Behavior Tech Computer (BTC), most Taiwanese optical drive makers enjoyed year-on-year growth in December sales thanks to rising demand. According to the Commercial Times Chinese-language newspaper, the two leading Taiwan-based optical drive makers – Lite-On IT and Quanta Storage – are likely to post record high earnings per share of over NT$10 for last year. Both companies achieved their 2002 forecasts.

MET Technology’s December sales grew 28.6% from the previous month. The company told the Taiwan-based Central News Agency that shipments of its CD-RW drives are fully booked through the end of this quarter.

Although BenQ and AOpen posted increases in December sales from a year earlier, their revenues slid from November with the passing of the peak season. BTC blamed its sales decline in December on sliding DVD drive prices.
