 JVC announces "ENC K2" technology aimed to improve tone quality of a CD/DVD pressed audio discs

Message Text: Text comes from Japanese translation "...Victor Co. of Japan, Ltd. (JVC) and Victor Entertainment developed the new technology "encoding K2 (ENC K2)" of aiming at improvement in tone quality, in the work process of digital audio discs, such as CD and a DVD audio. This "ENC K2" is the original improvement technology in tone quality "K2 technology.". It succeeds in including in CD format encoder process. Victor Co. of Japan, Ltd. will receive the order of the work and manufacture of CD or a DVD audio disk which introduced this technology from now on..."

The translation continues "...Also development and after that, both companies have tackled [ from the former ] the improvement technology in tone quality of disk media towards the evolution over many years aiming at what "the tone quality of all CDs is faithfully reproduced for by tone quality equivalent to an original master tape" based on the idea "original sound reproduction" together uniquely.

"ENC K2" developed this time removes the tone quality change factor (an error, distortion, and noise) concerning a digital signal transmission system generated in the format encoder process in CD software work process based on old "K2 technology", and realizes near infinite high definition and quality-ization of loud sound to an original master.

In addition, Victor Entertainment adopts this technology also as CCCD which starts sale from November 13.



Generally, unless, as for a digital audio, a mark changes, theoretically although [ tone quality ] it does not change, tone quality changes with digital signal transmission systems in fact. Usually, although the cutting process in CD work mainly consisted of three processes of "master tape reproduction" ->"CD format encoder" -> "laser cutting", the processing and the copy control processing function by PC software newly came to be introduced into "CD format encoder" process in recent years.

"ENC K2" removes the tone quality change factor concerning the digital signal transmission system to an output from the input of such a CD format encoder process multi-functionalized increasingly.

Both companies have developed and introduced into each process of CD cutting process from the former improvement technology in tone quality, such as "Digital K2" which removes the tone quality change concerning a master tape, and "K2 laser cutting (K2 LC) etc." which raises the accuracy of laser cutting, and purity, based on the original improvement technology in tone quality "K2 technology." And by development of "ENC K2", the improvement process in tone quality (Full Code Transfer System) the process and all the cutting processes in CD work cohered was established this time. It succeeded in reading the "mark information" on theoretical "1" and "0" in an instant, generating a new digital signal, and removing the tone quality change factor in a digital signal transmission system from the digital signal which contains "the ingredient outside a mark" which is this tone quality change factor in "K2 interface" developed in 1987 with the first cartridge of the original technology "K2 technology" of both companies.

Based on "K2 technology", this "ENC K2" makes an EFM signal (Eight to Fourteen Moduration) newly correspond, performs synchronization control of DATA, and succeeds in including in CD format encoder process.

It is consistent by the major three composition process "master tape reproduction" of the cutting process of CD work, "CD format encoder", and "laser cutting", and establishment of "Full Code Transfer System" which removes a tone quality change factor realizes the master direct design "which reproduces the tone quality of all CDs faithfully by tone quality equivalent to an original master tape." ..."
