Message Text: Roxio announced that it is providing the CD recording capability for versions of Microsoft's new Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows 98SE. Using Roxio's technology included with the player, consumers will be able to easily record authorized digital music content onto CDs.

The Roxio-branded CD recording applet will also display a link to Roxio's website, allowing consumers to upgrade to Roxio's full-featured CD recording software, Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, and a host of other products and services that enable consumers to do more with their data, photos, videos, and music.

"This is an important agreement for Roxio because it provides a significant avenue for upgrades to the full-featured version of Roxio's Easy CD Creator," said Roxio President and CEO Chris Gorog. "We're proud to work together with Microsoft to deliver the next wave of digital media with continued support of CD recording."

"Microsoft has used Roxio's technology for CD-recording since we began offering burning capability in the player, and we continue to include this technology in versions of Windows Media Player 9 Series," said Dave Fester, general manager of the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corp. "This agreement provides consumers with the high quality of Roxio CD-recording, while at the same time presenting Roxio with many exciting new e-commerce opportunities to sell upgrades of its software. These opportunities are the hallmark of a great technology platform."
