Freecom announced today a new High-speed external recorder: "...With the new FX-1 40x12x40 Freecom updates the speed of the stylish external drive and thus benefits from the high data transfer rates of up to date USB 2.0 ports. The writing speed now again reflects the speeds of current internal CD-RW drives.

The installed base of computers with USB 2.0 interface is constantly raising but it is still at an early stage. That's the reason why Freecom also offers the new FX-1 in a special bundle including the Freecom FA-1 USB 2.0 PCI Hostcontroller card. This FA-1 controller has two Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports and can be installed in any PC with a free PCI slot. The FA-1 ensures downward compatibility to the former USB 1.1 standard. By upgrading your PC to USB 2.0 - you can enjoy the maximum speed of the new FX-1 40x. . Of course the new FX-1 40X includes Buffer Underrun Prevention Technology and Active Write Control for flawless CD creation.

The Freecom writer bundles comes standard with USB 2.0 connection cable, blank CD and multilingual manual. The box also includes a wide range of software. Besides Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 and Direct CD burning software, Freecom has also included the music software Liquid Audio to create and burn MP3 files.
