We give additional information about YAMAHA's new CRWF1 series concerning hot subjects such as...
a) Disc@2 writing system has a 0.1mm precision with up to 250dpi 'printable' resolution. You can print up to 256 shades with dark dye's , in order the pictures to be visible. The images can only be 'printed' upon the un-used area of the disc and session must be closed. You cannot make direct copies of already printed discs, drive cannot read it, so a solution would be to scan and re-print it...
b) There are no plans for CRW2200E, CRW3200E and CRW70 series to support 870MB discs with AudioMASTER system.
c) Price of the drive expected to be around <= $200.
d) Will the drive support hardware EFM correction (aka SD2)? Probably not but we will have to wait until the drive arrives in our labs.
e) The drive may support 24x Re-writing speed (P-CAV) but only with 24x certified US-RW media (Ultra Speed), according to the new Orange Book standard. The new media will be available by the time drive will be shipped, as YAMAHA explained.
