Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics plan to introduce their new low-end Smartphones at January's 'CES 2018', showcasing the Galaxy A8 /A8+ devices and the next K series phone, respectively.

According to Korean news site ETnews, both the Samsung A and LG K series don't have all the glamour of the companies' premium flagship models, but they tend to be much more reasonably priced.

CES has been the stage for highlighting smart home appliances. Phonemakers have pulled back to focus on the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC), held every year in Barcelona at the end of February.

The Samsung phones are rumored to get the following features:

  • 18:9 AMOLED Infinity Display with slim bezels
  • AI functions like Bixby Home and Bixby Remind
  • Samsung Pay
  • USB Type C Charging Port
  • 3.5mm earphone jack
  • Fingerprint recognition
  • "Split View" and "Pop-up View" multitasking

The Korean report claims the LG K series phone will support LG Pay, will have an FM radio, a 5.3-inch full-HD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Both Samsung and LG declined to comment.

It is highly expected that both Samsung and LG will introduce the Galaxy S9 and G7, respectively, after February.

Sony's first bezel-less Smartphone Xperia series and Huawei's P11 series are also expected to be introduced at MWC 2018.
